Burning man is both an intrinsic part of Silicon Valley and a DJ party in the desert. A place for rich people to party and nude hippies to dance around the fire. But for the curious, allow me to try.
More than miles north of Reno, Nevada, is Black Rock City, an expanse of desert ringed by distant mountains that has been home to the annual Burning Man festival since the s. There are three of us, cramped inside a dusty Toyota that's packed to the gills along with a triad of busted bicycles hanging precariously off the back. We are flanked on every side by travelers who, like us, have driven several hours to form what has turned out to be a particularly sluggish caravan into Black Rock City, Nevada.
